3 Tips for Self-Care before Celebrations
We have found that making self-care a priority before diving into the excitement and joy of celebrations helps to set the foundation for a memorable experience. By making the time to take care of your mind and body before celebrating creates an opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the festivities and make the most out of every moment. If you need a little inspiration to get started with creating your own ritual, we shared our 3 Tips for Self-Care before Celebrations below.
Tip 1: Energize with a Workout
Getting your body moving and energized with a workout session is a sure way to start your celebrations off right. Whether it's a brisk walk, a yoga class, or a weight training session, choose an activity that feels good to you.
As a long-time athlete, this step is a must for me to ensure that I feel my best through the day. Exercise releases endorphins which are known as the "feel-good" hormones and by incorporating into your daily lifestyle, exercise can boost mood and energy levels. When I was younger I had a rigid routine but as I have gotten older I have learned to embrace the variability and tend to mix things up, making sure to listen to what my body needs. Pair it with your favorite music or podcast to really unplug while focusing on taking care of you.
Tip 2: Exfoliate for an Effortless Glow
I like to line up my weekly ritual with upcoming party preparations and incorporate a body and facial exfoliant a few days before any celebration. My preferred routine is a dry brushing session followed by mixing up one of our facials exfoliants and painting it on to face, neck and chest before a soak in the tub. Dry brushing has been incredibly helpful for me as it is a technique that helps the body flush toxins by stimulating the lymphatic system. My body tends to hang onto metabolic waste so I like to pair this process with a long soak in the tub that includes our Herbal Soaking Salts. This product is naturally rich in magnesium to help with flushing toxins and is formulated with organic arnica, calendula and chamomile to soothe skin and relax tired muscles. After the tub, I layer my facial hydrators from lightweight to rich, and apply our Arnica Massage & Body Oil blended with a pinch of one of our body moisturizers for total face and body hydration.
Tip 3: Find your Inner Calm
Before the celebrations begin, take a moment to find your inner calm through meditation. Find a quiet space, sit or lay comfortably, and focus on your breath. Allow your mind to let go of any stress and simply be present in the moment. Sounds easy, doesn't it? For me, meditation is one self-care ritual that I am still working on to incorporate more frequently as I love that it can help calm the mind, reduce anxiety, and increase an overall sense of well-being. I have found that my most successful sessions are in the lying position on the floor, focusing on the feeling of the ground beneath me.
As you get ready to fully embrace the joy and excitement that comes with the last holiday celebration of the year, we hope you find yourself incorporating these 3 tips for self-care into your pre-celebration routine.
