Top 3 Versatile Products

Did you know that many of our products are formulated to address more than one skincare concern? These multi-purpose products target different issues such as scar management, exfoliation and hydration along with brightening and firming skin. We love how efficient and effective each of these products are and how they can help to reduce the number of items in a routine. In this blog we dive into our top 3 Versatile Products along with how and when to use them in hopes that you would love to try using them in a different way for additional skin benefits.

1. Bergamot & Lavender Body Balm

This product was formulated under our precursor brand in 2011 as I was anticipating a partial thyroidectomy. I wanted to incorporate a product into my routine post surgery that would assist with a healthy healing process while remaining nourishing and soothing for the trauma that I was about to experience.

The formulation I envisioned would have enough slip for massaging post suture removal as a way to help prevent a keloid scar. While every ingredient is essential in this formulation, I carefully selected ones that were naturally rich in vitamins E, C, K, omegas and ceramides to help give skin what it needed to repair and regenerate. This product formulation also has both anti-inflammatory and protective properties along with a cicatrizant, which is known to help speed wound healing.

Since its debut our Bergamot & Lavender Body Balm has been our go-to dual purpose product for the body and has been used by many individuals with great success to help heal and assist with scar management. It has been used by many expectant mothers including myself to help prevent stretch marks with pregnancy. Because it contains nutrient-dense, organic ingredients it is also recommended for tattoo healing after the first week and remains our go-to product for dry skin including lips, hands and feet.

It is a fully concentrated, anhydrous balm so just a pinch of product is all that is needed. We recommend using the back of your thumbnail to drag across the surface allowing the product to billow on top of the thumbnail as the best way to remove the product from the tin. From there, apply and blend until it has fully softened and leaves a matte, non-greasy finish on skin.

2. Sugar Scrubs

A few times each year we are asked about which product is recommended for a lip scrub. The two main components of this type of product is one that includes a granular exfoliant and built-in hydration. For this purpose, we recommend our sugar scrubs for both the body and lips as your once-a-week exfoliant, but keep in mind that they are not recommended for the face.

We love that they are naturally rich in AHAs and formulated with organic lipids to exfoliate and hydrate skin in one step. They have a water-activated, powdery texture and we recommend to scoop what is needed into a dish and to add a pinch of warm water to make a slurry. This type of consistency makes it is easy to drip the product on skin or hands and massage until the texture has softened before rinsing. You can use this product once weekly and it is recommended to apply your favorite hydrator or lip balm afterwards for essential hydration and protection that lasts.

3. Daily Face Polish

This most-loved product was originally formulated as a non-lathering facial cleanser that is pH balanced for use in the morning. You might feel the need to freshen up skin when you wake to remove excess sebum and dead skin cells but do not necessarily need a bubbling cleanser to remove makeup. Over the years it has become a multi-purpose product that can be used as an enzymatic mask once weekly.

The natural enzymes in organic honey are what work to soften congestion and remove excess dead skin cells as it is naturally rich in AHAs. This powerhouse ingredient also helps with tone and texture imbalances, helping to reveal vibrant skin.

We love to recommend it as a once-weekly enzymatic mask if you prefer it over any of our clay-based exfoliants. It is beneficial to use it this way to help remove excess debris if you have noticed a rubbery texture on skin or enlarged pores.

To use as an enzymatic mask scoop a spoonful of product and apply to clean, dry skin in an even manner. I like to blend the product between my palms to warm it up before smearing on skin using both hands. From there, let the product sit topically for 3-5 minutes to allow the enzymes to soften congestion by breaking the protein bond between skin layers before rinsing. Make sure to follow either type of application with your favorite facial hydrator as skin is ready and accepting.
