Looks Can Be Deceiving
Have you ever wondered why we refrain from using aloe in our products?
While we adore this plant for its skin soothing & healing properties, typically the raw ingredient used in manufacturing can include some unexpected components, even if the product label states 'Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice.' This is where INCI, or the rules for naming ingredients, can get a little tricky. In some instances, you can have a certain percentage of other components in the ingredient; water, glycerin, chemical preservatives, etc., without it affecting the INCI. It is then difficult for the consumer to know if a particular ingredient is pure or not as it might just fall into this category. If an ingredient has a high concentration of water or if the final product contains water; it needs to be preserved when bottled respectively.
Our rule of thumb: err on the side of caution if a product has a water soluble ingredient.
