Finding Organization in The New Year | C&Co.® Handcrafted Skincare

In our modern society there are many variables to consider and coordinate when scheduling your day-to-day tasks. I recommend these tips to create more order in your life and allow you to enjoy a less stressful daily existence.

Paper Planner

I use a paper planner to write down all of my to-dos, appointments, due dates, etc. I know that many rely on digital calendars, but physically writing it down embeds that information into my memory. Surprisingly I am less likely to lose a physical calendar whereas a digital calendar I might incorrectly enter a date or time or just forget to check it. I like this method as it allows me to hold myself accountable for self care (yoga) and for scheduling things on time. Make a list of items that need to be done weekly, monthly, or yearly and add them into your calendar to ensure they get done. In addition to home-based tasks, schedule check-ins with yourself to make sure that you are working towards your personal and professional goals.

Food Journaling

I like to keep a food journal within my paper planner as well. This process holds me accountable for the quantity and variety of food I eat each day. It is shocking to see what I actually consume and this journal helps me decide what is not necessary so I can make adjustments for a healthier lifestyle. Seeing this in writing allows me to recognize my eating patterns and is also helpful when making a shopping list.

Home Spaces

Have appropriate objects for the space you possess. I choose to not own furniture that does not fit in my space, regardless of my addiction to antique furniture & printed rugs. I limit furniture and household items to those that are needed, functional, fit well, and are aesthetically pleasing. I encourage you to not feel like you must fill every space in your home, it is OK to have empty closets or drawers.

Organization within Organization

I like to keep my physical space at home and at work in order, making it easy to find things I need. I love using drawer separators to organize small objects and maximize space efficiently. These can be trays, baskets or small cardboard boxes, anything that works for you. I also prefer to have a place for everything as I do not like when items are “floating” around. I recommend dedicating a “home” for every item you own. You will always know where it is when you need it. Color coding, labeling, or alphabetizing is very helpful as well when organizing multiples. Find a system that works for you and stick with it.

I hope these tips help and are easy to implement to create positive change in your life.
