How to Customize our Facial Masks | Part 1

When it comes to cultivating a balanced routine using lipid and ceramide-based products, including a gentle exfoliant weekly into the mix is essential. The purpose of this step is to encourage a healthy cellular turnover to allow your nutrient dense ingredients to penetrate to the dermis where they can truly hydrate and repair skin. Consistency with this part of your routine is important because an excess of dead skin cells will impact the hydration level of the dermis and could cause inflamed and reactive skin over time.

Last year we added our coveted spa masks to our Facial Exfoliant Collection and have received postive feedback from this debut. We formulated each individual mask intentionally to provide a different spectrum of nutrients and benefits for skin while still working incredibly well alongside our tried and true weekly exfoliant, our Chamomile & Oats Clay Facial Mask. You can expect each jar to be packed with skin nourishing vitamins, minerals, organic AHAs and essential fatty acids to help restore skin vitality, reduce hyperpigmentation, improve texture, reduce redness and broken capillaries along with decongesting deep cellular congestion and buildup.

Chamomile & Oats Clay Facial Mask

To incorporate an exfoliant into your routine, we recommend beginning with our Chamomile & Oats Clay Facial Mask as your weekly go-to. It is a gentle yet effective formulation that provides hydration while improving the tone and texture of skin. Nutrient-dense clays and organic chamomile help to reduce cellular buildup and tame inflammation.

This 5-minute facial mask is the one we reach to week after week, typically on Sundays. With consistent use you can expect skin to feel hydrated with a slight reduction in hyperpigmentation and an overall even texture.

With the use of all facial exfoliants, we recommend blending in a bowl and applying to freshly cleansed face, neck and chest with a mask brush for an even application. We like to suggest leaving the product on skin until the perimeter of the mask is dry or for a total of 5 minutes. To remove, rinse skin with warm water and apply your favorite facial hydrators, layering on skin.

How to Use

To prepare our Chamomile & Oats Clay Facial Mask we suggest mixing 1 teaspoon mask and 1 teaspoon water to start, blending together until even. From there add in additional water as needed to create your preferred consistency as it does require a bit more water than our masks due to the solubility of our organic and certified gluten-free oats. You will feel a larger grit on skin during application and this mask can be applied weekly.

How to Make a Custom Blend

With this mask as your weekly go-to, you can switch it out for any of our other facial masks as your monthly deeper exfoliant or use it to formulate your own custom mask blend depending on your skin needs that week. You can find more on this idea below along with our second and third installments over the next two weeks.

Red Clay Facial Mask

Our Red Clay Facial Mask started out as a collaboration with East Fork Pottery back in 2018 but has shifted into becoming our go-to decongesting facial mask over the years. It is formulated with nutrient-dense clays, plant-based AHAs and vitamin C to help with hyperpigmentation and hormonal or cyclical congestion. Organic hibiscus provides nutrients to brighten the complexion and soften the texture of skin.

With consistent use you will notice a reduction in hyperpigmentation, changes to texture and suppleness of skin while breakouts surface and vanish quickly.

How to Use

To prepare our Red Clay Facial Mask we suggest mixing 1 teaspoon mask and 1 teaspoon water and blend to make a paste. You will feel a slight grit on skin during application and this mask can be applied once monthly or once every two weeks.

Blue Green Algae Facial Mask

Our Blue Green Algae Facial Mask was formulated with intention to incorporate the powerful phyto-retinols and endlesss nutrients of organic blue green algae, AHAs and vitamin C to help break up stubborn congestion. Each plant-based ingredient brings something new to the mix, but as a whole, this mask helps to clarify skin and reduce overall red undertones.
