Holiday Popcorn Recipe
This time of year we find ourselves baking more and sharing our favorite recipes with those we love. Popcorn is such a festive treat and can be a cost-effective option for homemade gifts that is sure to be loved. We thought that it would be the perfect time to share our favorites with you. Each of these recipes are gluten-free and can be prepared following an easy stovetop method for making popcorn from scratch. We sincerely hope that you enjoy and make these part of your holiday tradition.
Stovetop Popcorn | Makes 8 cups
- In a medium saucepan heat 3 tbsp. oil or butter on medium heat.
- Measure 1/3 cup popcorn kernels, tossing in a few kernels into the heated saucepan from step 1.
- Once the kernels have popped add the remaining to the saucepan and quickly lid your saucepan.
- Remove from heat for about 30 seconds.
- Return saucepan to heat with consistent back and forth movement to prevent burning, allowing the kernels to pop.
- After popping begins to dissipate, remove saucepan from heat and pour the freshly popped popcorn into a large bowl.
- Top with your favorite mixture below.
Cinnamon Sugar Popcorn
Ingredients
- 8 cups popped popcorn
- 3 tbsp. coconut oil or butter
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/8 cup sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt
- Optional: add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract to melted oil or butter
Directions
- Mix dry ingredients together in a bowl, set aside.
- Melt coconut oil or butter in saucepan.
- Toss 8 cups popped popcorn with melted oil or butter to coat evenly.
- Sprinkle dry mixture onto popcorn mixture and toss evenly to coat.
Savory Garlic + Red Chili Flakes Popcorn
Ingredients
- 8 cups popped popcorn
- 3 tbsp. of coconut oil or butter
- 1 tsp red chili flakes
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
Directions
- Mix dry ingredients together in a bowl, set aside.
- Melt coconut oil or butter in saucepan.
- Toss 8 cups popped popcorn with melted oil or butter to coat evenly.
- Sprinkle dry mixture onto popcorn mixture and toss evenly to coat.
Salted Candied Pecan Popcorn
Ingredients
- 8 cups popped popcorn
- 3 tbsp. of coconut oil or butter
- 1/2 cup of candied pecans
- 1/ 8 cup finely shaved dark chocolate, melted
- Sprinkle of sea salt to taste
Directions
- Melt dark chocolate, set aside.
- Melt coconut oil or butter in saucepan.
- Toss 8 cups popped popcorn with heated coconut oil or butter to coat evenly.
- Lay popcorn mixture on cookie sheet, drizzle with melted dark chocolate and cool to let chocolate set.
- Remove from refrigerator and add popcorn mixture to large bowl.
- Top with candied pecans and salt to taste.
