Candied Pecan Recipe
To add a little magic to your holiday season I wanted to share a recipe for the most delectable Candied Pecans.
This recipe is crafted from All Recipes but I have added in my favorite modifications for a pinch less sugar and a touch more spice for a well rounded holiday treat. I love to keep these ingredients on hand for a quick treat that is rich in a variety of essential nutrients including vitamin E, zinc, magnesium and folate. Hope you enjoy!!
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. medium to coarse ground salt
- 1 egg white (no yolk)
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 12-16 ounces of pecan halves
Directions
- Gather all ingredients.
- Preheat oven to 250ºF.
- Whisk sugar, cinnamon and salt together in small bowl.
- Whisk egg white and vanilla extract together in large bowl until frothy.
- Toss pecan halves into egg white and vanilla extract mixture.
- Using spatula stir mixture until pecans are evenly coated.
- Spread onto a large baking sheet.
- Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes, stir with spatula then rearrange into even single layer.
- Continue to cook, stirring every 10 to 15 minutes until pecans are browned, another 40 to 50 minutes.
- Let cool on baking sheet then serve and enjoy!
