Toward the end October I set out to pick up new lightbulbs for the shop's ampersand sign. These are the kind of lightbulbs that appear only once a year with the Christmas decorations so we tend to stock up. On this particular day I had my sweet boy with me. As we entered the store I did what I normally do when we are together, give him a play-by-play of what we are doing, why we are doing it & describing all that we see in between. Not that he understands now, but one day he will. As we made our way to the super early display of Christmas decorations we were welcomed by an artificial tree that was dressed to the nines.
Just as I was saying, "Look at the Christmas tree. See the gold, glitter & lights" I stopped abruptly. I realized that this was the first Christmas tree he had ever seen.
His first ever.
This was a pretty spectacular moment for me. I am so thankful that I stopped & will forever have the memory of his sparkling eyes as he gazed at the lights on the tree.
As we dive head first into the remaining holiday season, we encourage each of you to be on the lookout for the simple joys.
Slow it down because if you blink, the moment may be gone.
